We're All In This Thing Together

You think you've fallen on hard times?
We have thing or two about hard times from Cadillac Man

Cadillac Man has been homeless on the streets of New York City for the past 16 years. Over that time he has recorded facts of his daily life in notebooks —those notebooks have been distilled into a memoir, Land of the Lost Souls. We’ll also be joined by Will Blythe an editor at Esquire who first published Cadillac Man’s writings. Cadillac Man will be reading, and Will Blythe will be introducing him at Housing Works Bookstore on Wednesday, April 22.

Date: Wednesday, April 22
Time: 7:00 pm
Place: Housing Works Bookstore, 126 Crosby Street
Cost: FREE!

Speaking of hard times and picking up the pieces, Housing Works is a non-profit fighting the twin crisises of HIV/AIDS and homelessness. It also operates a number of fantastic businesses, including an online auction and Recession Girl's favorite thrift stores in the city. These seven upscale thrift boutiques sell high-end vintage clothing, furniture and other treasures to bargain hunters and fashionistas alike....all at Recession Girl prices. A pioneer in Social Enterprise, Housing Works funds invaluable community and social justice work with these profits, including housing, harm reduction, health, case management and legal services for individuals living with HIV and AIDS. Check out the organization's website at http://www.housingworks.org/ for information and addresses but in the meantime, here's a taste of the items up for auction this week out of HW's Chelsea location:
