Recessionista Swindle of the Day

Exercise is supposed to be a stress-reliever, not a stress-inducer. But forking over wads of cash every month for a gym membership is enough to make you spin – and not in the calorie-burning way. Fortunately, if you have health insurance, most plans are now encouraging gym membership by partially subsidizing your afternoon stroll on the elliptical. Insurance plans will give up to hundreds of dollars per year with proof that you’re sweating it out regularly. Check your plan’s website, or call the customer service number on your card and find out what you need to do to start collecting.
